What's going on at HarborArts?

We have an official partnership with HarborArts over in East Boston to cross promote and share events.  They're the other big industrial free public art space in town, and we love what they're doing!

So in the spirit of friendly cooperation, here's a list of the events they have lined up for the summer as part of their season-long exhibition OccupyING the Present.  Note that these are NOT AT BARTLETT!  HarborArts is at the East Boston Shipyard.  It's not as far as you think, so take a day trip and check them out...

Upcoming events in July and August

We hope you all had a great 4th of July week and are geared up for the coming events with Outside the Box.  We're taking a break from the events this weekend and the site will be closed both Saturday and Sunday.

Next week, we'll be closed on Saturday, but join us Sunday the 21st from 2-7 for J'ouvert, an outdoor celebration of Caribbean culture and steel pan bands.

We'll be taking another break on the weekend of July 27th and 28th as we shift our attention to FIGMENT Boston on the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

Once we get into August, we're looking at a full slate of great events.  August 3rd, we will have a lobster boil to benefit our partners at YouthBuild Boston, with lobsters by the Shuckin' Truck and great live music, as well as an interactive art installation.   August 10th will be the return of the popular Bring Down the Walls event with funky house music and art.  We have a number of other great events in development, so make sure to put room on your calendars for some time at the yard in August!

Are you ready for some Futbol?

Hey soccer fans!  Looking for a place to play?  Well we've got some great news.  The Bartlett Events team and Soccer1, a Boston-based non-profit that operates a series of programs, social business ventures and collaborative projects to support community development through soccer, are teaming up in an official partnership to bring weekly pickup soccer games to the site!

Under a new program from Soccer1 called PickUpFooty@, Bartlett Yard will be the host to weekly futbolito games, which are played with a smaller, heavier ball to take advantage of the smaller field size in urban areas.  Futbolito games also have smaller 3-5 person teams and feature more footwork than regular soccer.  Don't confuse this with the other futbolito, also known as foosball.

The games will take place every Sunday starting in late May and will go throughout the summer and fall.  Lace up your shoes and head on down to Bartlett to play!
